Note: We have several different starting points for our classes, so make sure you know where you should be.

Most of us are more Pauline Fowler than Paula Radcliffe! Bike Knowledge’s mission is to try to balance the swingometer more towards Paula.
I occasionally go to a spin class or gym class, but never stick with it. I have thought about doing a 5k run, and maybe even done one
I go to spin/gym classes and saw the benefits at first, but now I don’t seem to be improving. I have thought about doing a 10k run – maybe even did one once.
I consider myself quite fit and active but, would like a new fun way of staying motivated and improving my fitness.
We know it's stating the obvious, but you need to be able to get up a flight of stairs to enjoy our classes. If you think this might be a challenge, then we are still the place you want to be, but go out on a few rides lasting an hour first, or spend a few weeks taking some energetic walks. Take a look at visitscotland's walking pages for some that are right here in Edinburgh.
Most of us learn to ride a bike when we’re young, but once we’ve stopped falling over and taken off the stabilisers, how much more do we learn?
We can help you gain confidence, and learn to ride off-road and improve your biking skills.
I own (used to own) a bike, but it’s locked in the stairwell or garage. It’s more likely to be used as a clotheshorse than a mode of transport. When I do go out it’s along a flat cycle route, in the summer, when it’s not raining or cold. I want to try more.
I cycle occasionally but it’s usually in the city. I find it hard to get up and down kerbs, and don’t like rough or difficult ground. I would like to be able to have more fun in a nicer location. I want to try more.
I am a regular cyclist, and would like to try proper mountain biking, but don’t know how to start. I want help with where to go, what bike to use, and how to hone my skills. I want to try more.
If you are unsure about which level you are, the Bike Knowledge guides will help. Please contact us for advice.
You don’t even have to own your own bike! We maintain a fleet of Trek bikes with the most modern components, in a range of sizes. Bike hire for our classes is £5.
If you hire a bike with us you'll also get a helmet and a puncture kit - all inclusive in the hire price.
